Trinity Cathedral Committees & Guilds
Trinity's various committees oversee Cathedral operations including the annual giving campaign, building and grounds, communications, the endowment and planned giving, finance, governance, Vestry and Diocesan delegate nominations, personnel and safety.
Trinity Cathedral has a variety of guilds that range from activities that support the weekly services to prayer ministry, Cathedral history and the Martha's Guild.

The Junior Warden and Senior Warden select members for the Buildings and Grounds Committee, who serve three year terms. The B&G Committee works to ensure that our buildings and grounds further the vision of making Trinity a center for worship and education for our congregation, the Diocese, and the larger community. Trinity Cathedral Guilds
Acolyte Guild
The Trinity Acolyte Guild serves to aid our youth in the development of their own spirituality through service during worship at the Cathedral, educate our youth in the history and importance of their ministry through their service during worship, provide and encourage opportunities to serve the community within Trinity Cathedral, promote fellowship and teamwork our youth as they come together during worship services, provide opportunities for leadership and mentorship as they grow in their roles as acolytes at Trinity Cathedral. This Guild is open to all youth, contact Helen Sudbury.
Altar Guild
The members of the Altar Guild are responsible for preparing the Altar for the celebration of the Eucharist. Some of the duties include cleaning and storing the vessels and vestments and setting up the elements for communion. Altar Guild members work with the other liturgical guilds to insure that the candles, flowers, linens, prayer books and other materials necessary for the use and beautification of the altar are properly in place to support the worship service. This Guild is open to all interested persons, contact Dee Ellen Grubbs or Dennis Sellon, co-chairs.
Cornerstone Community
“Go forth into the world to love and serve the Lord.” For the Cornerstone Community the world is our cloister where we practice the Rule of St. Benedict. Experiencing the transformation of Christ’s love we are brought closer to God and each other, and we are sustained in our ministry to the world. Contact Abbott Elaine Stewart Harris for information on joining.
History Guild
The Trinity Cathedral History Guild works to preserve, catalogue and present information about the history of Trinity: it seeks new historical material and has been charged with initiating and overseeing a Trinity oral history project. In our second year of operation we continued to list and arrange existing historical material. We are most grateful for donations of material large and small during the year, but the most significant addition of material came from Mary Sicilia as she retired. During the spring, Cathedral Conversations carried two of our mystery pictures and parishioners were able to identify most of those in the groups. We had two guest lecturers, Mary Sicilia who described the work she had done at St Mark’s Cathedral, and Richard Van Orman, the Diocesan Historiographer, who explained about the historical collections available at the Close. The office rearrangement this summer provided us work space and a safer place store material. In December we took the first significant step toward the oral history project when a group of twelve people from the congregation were trained in oral history techniques. There is still considerable organizational work to be done before the interviews can actually start. Contact Ann Weikel about joining this Guild.
Lectors Guild
Lectors assist Sunday morning and certain other worship services by reading the appointed lessons and leading the Prayers of the People. Contact Lee Garrett about joining this Guild.
Lay Eucharistic Ministry Guild
Our mission is to support the liturgy at all appropriate times through administration of the sacramental wine during communion. We are commissioned to support the clergy in communicating the sacraments. Contact Mark Reber, coordinator about joining this Guild.
Martha’s Guild
An informal group of women interested in needlework and other handcrafts, some of which are sold at the annual Christmas Bazaar. Funds from the sale of Berta Bags and the Christmas Bazaar are used for various chosen projects, both inside and outside of Trinity. All are invited to our gatherings every Tuesday, from 10 am-noon in the Morrison Room—bring your handwork project and a sense of humor! Many of us go out to lunch together afterwards at neighborhood restaurants.
Ushers' Guild
There are ten teams of ushers with about seven members on each team or a total of about seventy parishioners involved. A team is assigned to a particular service with each 10:00 am Sunday service and twenty eight other services such as Christmas Eve included. Usher responsibilities include handing out leaflets to attendees, collecting the offering, holding the aisles during communiion and other duties to help maintain an orderly sevice. Thjis work is meant to provide hospitality to visitors and to enhance the worship experience for everyone. Contact Charlie Matschek or Tom Richards about joining this Guild.
Vergers' Guild
In addition to our traditional duties of preceding and symbolically “clearing the way” for choir and clergy, vergers are very much a part of the “ministry of welcome” of the Cathedral. Paramount among those duties is providing smooth access to the communion rail. We greet parishioners and welcome new communicants. We are a visible source of information for Cathedral visitors and in many ways, serve as the “butlers” of the church. Of course, we work closely with the officers of the service, including acolytes, to insure an orderly and proper service. Contact Mike Grubbs about joining this Guild.
