Dr. Paul Anderson, Professor of Biblical & Quaker Studies at George Fox University, will speculate about who the biblical adversaries might be, show something of the history of villainization across church history, and then go back to the first-century Johannine situation to identify four crises in the early church--unpacking each with implications for believers today. NEXT CANDIDATE FOR MUSIC POSITION
Please join friends from the congregation and the Portland community this Thursday, March 11, at 7pm, to hear our next candidate for Canon for Cathedral Music. Eric Milnes, who has conducted Trinity Consort programs in recent years, will present a thirty-minute program of his own selections (organ works by Bach, César Franck, and Max Reger), followed by everyone gathering in the Chancel to sing two hymns to his accompaniments and improvised introductions.  He'll have a little advance notice of the first hymn, but none for the second, allowing us to watch and hear him thinking and playing -- on-the-spot! This public test of an organist's skill dates from traditions over three hundred years old, but is seldom experienced today. We’ve had large turnouts for these auditions, and The Oregonian's music critic, David Stabler, is following and reporting on this search. Join us for the fun! (And mark your calendars as well for the final candidate, here on March 18.)

SKY OF MERCY: A BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN EUCHARIST TO FEED PORTLAND'S HUNGRY
