Wednesday Evenings through May 30, 2012
5:30 pm, Service of Holy Eucharist in the Chapel
6:00 pm, Share in a Common Meal and table fellowship (suggested donation of $9 for the meal but all are welcome; weekly sign up sheets help us plan)
7:00-8:30 pm, Presentations and facilitated discussions

We welcome you for all or part of the evening.

Every term of three or four weeks we offer a variety of formats on a world of topics for those interested in exploring faith, deepening their spiritual foundation, and building community with each other.  With few exceptions, there is no charge for Wednesday classes.  Sign-up sheets for classes may be found at Trinity’s Information Center. 

Sign-up sheets for the Common Meal and for classes and discussion groups are at Trinity’s Information Center, located outside Kempton Hall. If you are unable to sign up in-person at Trinity, please contact Shannon Tilton (503-478-1223). The deadline to sign up for the weekly Common Meal is by noon on Tuesday.

Winter 2012 Classes

WEDNESDAY AT THE COMMONS: A SEASON OF NEW BEGINNINGS
Resolve to start the New Year by paying attention to mind, body and spirit.  Adult Formation classes begin January 4th and continue each Wednesday, 7:00pm to 8:30pm (preceded by Eucharist at 5:30 and the Common Meal at 6:00). Epiphany course offerings include:

LouiseRoseWhole Foods Nutrition and Cuisine with Dr. Louise Rose, Now until 2/15.  Do you want to feed your family whole foods but don’t know where to start?  Have you been curious about fermented foods?  What are they?  What role do they play in our health? What is Bone Broth and why should we be eating it? How can I prepare kale so that my family will love it? Whole foods chef and naturopathic physician Louise Rose offers 3 weeks of in-depth nutrition classes punctuated with practical meal planning strategies, recipes and cooking demos.  Come and learn the science behind traditional diets, and why we should return to eating real food! 

Introduction to Benedictine Practice, with Elaine Stewart Harris and the Cornerstone Community, Now to 11/30.
Benedictine Practice will explore the ancient monastic Rule of St. Benedict and its application for holy living in a secular world.  This class provides an opportunity to discern joining the community but is open to anyone interested in learning about the Benedictine tradition.

 

Beginning January 25


CandlemasCandlemas: Poetry, Prose, Music and  Labyrinth Walk with Canon Catherine Nichols. Explore the various themes and responses to the Feast of Candlemas or the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.  Canon Pastor Catherine Nichols leads an exploration of this mid-winter tradition. Meets in the Choir Room and only on January 25.

Occupy and Protests: A Conversation GroupOccupy
The conversations continue!  A free-wheeling experiment in religious and civic discourse as we examine our own responses to the OccupyTogether movements.  Facilitated by Elliot Trommald, Aaron Kelly and friends. Meets in the Stearns Library.

Catechesis: The Journey Home
Catechesis 2012 begins with an introduction to the Anglican Way of Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and we prepare to begin a journey together.  Catechesis is required for adults seeking baptism, confirmation/reception and reaffirmation of faith on Trinity Sunday, but is open to any and all seekers, whether you’re new to Trinity or not. Meets in the Morrison Room.

Beginning February 1. Eric Metaxes, bestselling author of Amazing Grace, has written a groundbreaking biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, one of the greatest religious and political heroes of the twentieth century.  Join Steve Congdon for a discussion of this biography, available at a 10% discount from the Trinity Bookstore. Meets in the Stearns Library.
