SeniorConnect Begins: Serving at risk seniors through community support and financial assistance –
Trinity SeniorConnect supports seniors aged 55 and older who are at risk for hunger, housing and healthcare insecurities. Through a generous donation by a Trinity parishioner, the program seeks to reach seniors in our local community who are hungry, who face problems with housing and who may need health and wellness education and support. SeniorConnect addresses these problems with:
Rental and Emergency Assistance
Through a partnership agreement with Northwest Pilot Project, the SeniorConnect will provide rental assistance and other emergency housing assistance to eligible seniors. Northwest Pilot Project will station a Housing Specialist at Trinity’s Glisan office to serve one day a week. SeniorConnect provides both the funding for the Housing Specialist and the funds to support housing assistance. The program relies upon the proven outline and processes for supporting seniors that Northwest Pilot Project has pioneered.
Health Education and Referral
SeniorConnect will fund and hire, on contract, a registered nurse to provide health education and appropriate referral to seniors. The nurse will work one full day each week, providing information, screenings and referrals to appropriate healthcare providers and community resources.

Trinity’s SeniorConnect Program Wins Award
Trinity Cathedral has been honored with Northwest Pilot Project’s highest honor, the Community Service award. Given in recognition of the SeniorConnect program begun this year in partnership with NWPP, this award recognizes Trinity’s commitment to addressing issues of hunger, isolation, and access to affordable housing for seniors in Northwest Portland. In its first year, SeniorConnect has given over $46,000 in direct assistance, and has helped over 100 people. We are proud to receive this award, and are thankful to Northwest Pilot Projects for partnering with us in providing direct assistance to the many vulnerable people in our community.
