Three Year Olds
36 - 48
months
A balance of free and structured play with time for stories, games, songs, movement, crafts and worship. Emphasis is placed on our expanding world with hands-on exploration of God's love. A worship time around our God's table and a story time with Barclay's Children's Library readers completes each session. |
| |
Preschool
and Kindergarten
Ages 4 and 5
In separate classes, four and five-year-olds participate in a wide variety of activities, games, cooking projects, and crafts designed to teach the basic Bible stories, the church seasons, concern for others, and care for the earth. A brief common Chapel service to familiarize children with songs, prayers, and responses, and a reading time in Barclay's Library round out each week. This year's focus is on the stories of Jesus and his friends and our own stories. |
|
First Grade
First graders spend time this spring exploring the stories of Genesis in a special hands-on curriculum designed to help them "meet the earliest faith families" in Scripture. The class especially encourages them use their new literate skills in tackling these familiar Bible stories. |
| |
Second Grade
We continue our look at Scripture by focusing on the stories of Jesus and his friends - how he walked the walk and talked the talk and invited many people to join on the journey. |
| |
Third Grade
Participatory experience abounds as third graders continue an exploration of the seasons and the sacraments. Third graders will prepare to lead an Assisted Eucharist on the First Sunday in May. |
| |
Fourth Grade
In "The Book of Books," fourth graders examine how the Bible came to be as they look at translations, the role the arts played in transmission of the Bible and Bible stories, and something of the genres various writers used to tell the story of God's love for the world. |
| |
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders continue to investigate the story of the earliest Christian Church in "Poems, Prayers, and Promises", a curriculum created to help them investigate and understand the origins of our liturgy and worship. Special events for fifth graders this spring include a Toga Party and Love Feast on Sunday, March 6 and an Instructed Eucharist led by the fifth graders on May 15. |

YA (Youth
Affirmation) – Sixth Grade
Sixth graders prepare to become young adult members of the parish in a lively adventure, exploring the meaning of faith and the Church. Y-A includes a Sunday morning class, three overnights, and social service projects with mentors. Y-A members will be affirmed in a special service of Holy Eucharist, which they will help prepare and lead on Sunday, May 8. |

FIGS
Grades 7 through 8
Middle Schoolers take a whole new look at what it means to be a Friend - to ourselves, to others, to the world, to God. |
| |
High School Horizons Grades 9 through 12
High School students will be exploring new and exciting themes this year. Grounded in Scripture and progressive religious scholarship, young people are offered a fresh understanding of Jesus, his message, and how it relates to us. Students also are invited to explore and embrace their own unique personalities, strengths, and weaknesses and will be challenged to strive for balance, integrity and wholeness. The key is exploring their own beliefs and Christian heritage. |
