Originally from Seattle, David first discovered his passion for the organ when his family was living in Berlin, Germany. David’s first organ lesson was in the Dorfkirche in Schöneberg—the same church where his grandfather served for many years as a Lutheran minister, and where his father grew up. Upon returning to Seattle, David continued his organ studies at Saint Mark’s Cathedral with Mel Butler and at the University of Washington with Carole Terry.
David holds a bachelor’s degree in organ performance from Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with James David Christie, and before coming to Trinity, he served as the music director at the Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) in Lorain, OH. David has participated in numerous organ competitions and summer academies in the US and Europe including the North German Organ Academy in Bremen, Germany and the Haarlem International Organ Festival.
Arrival at Trinity:
David first came to Trinity in September 2018 as an organ intern and music administrator before becoming Organ Scholar in October 2018.
