Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, Katie is the daughter of a church musician who loved Evensong far too much to avoid joining the family business. She has reached the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel," having earned her doctorate in organ performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she also studied choral conducting and taught in the music theory department.
A graduate of St. Olaf College and a former public school choral music teacher, Katie has served on the faculties of both the Worship and Music Conference at Montreat, North Carolina, and the RSCMA King’s College summer training course in Pennsylvania. She is active as an organ recitalist and as a composer of sacred music, but she also enjoys playing bluegrass guitar, learning the art of overtone singing, and harmonizing with her vacuum cleaner
Arrival at Trinity:
August 2020 (although she first visited Trinity in 2013 as a member of the St. Olaf Choir!)
Katie has sampled over 5,000 different beers. She is also happy to discuss all things related to commercial aviation, college basketball, sea otters, and the culinary arts. Her life-long dream is to attend Corgi Beach Day dressed as a Ravenclaw quidditch player!
