After residing in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years Deacon Ken and his wife Karen moved to Portland in 2016 following his retirement from Episcopal Community Services, San Francisco. Karen is currently Director of Facilities Management at TriMet. Together they have been grateful for the opportunity to serve at Trinity Cathedral following their years in several Bay Area and Portland parishes.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Ken first came to the West Coast during a four year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, Vietnam era, A graduate of San Francisco State University, he was ordained at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco in 2007 following three years of study at the Episcopal School for Deacons in Berkeley. He has also received a certificate from the Academy for Spiritual Formation and has a broad exposure to a variety of Eastern religious teachings and practices.
Over the years Ken has worked closely with a diverse population of of low income and homeless seniors, disabled adults and Central American and Asian immigrant workers-all of whom have contributed to his diaconal formation "to serve all people, particularly the poor, the weak the sick, and the lonely."
Ken has a married daughter, Caitlin, living in Edmonton, Alberta with Mike and two young grandchildren and a stepson, Nate, in Portland.
While Ken is thriving in Oregon's natural beauty and enjoying the cultural amenities of Portland, he wishes his favorite Bay Area teams weren't 600 miles away!
