Steven and his wife Katrinka were married at Ascension Episcopal Chapel In 1971. Their three children were baptized and attended Sunday School at Ascension prior to coming to Trinity Episcopal Church in 1987. Although they lived in San Diego for several years, Trinity was always thought of as their home church.
Steven is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he majored in Industrial Education & Construction Engineering Management & minored in Naval Science. Steven served in various engineering capacities for the Marine Corps throughout the nation. In 1991, Col. Easterday was mobilized for Operation Desert Storm & served five months as the Command Engineer Officer for 2MEF HQ, Camp Lejeune, NC. He served in HQ 4th Marine Air Wing, New Orleans, LA, where he was promoted to Colonel & served as Engineer and Logistics Officer. In 1997, he was transferred to 1MEF HQ in Camp Pendleton, CA, to serve as Engineer Officer & Liaison Officer to the South Korean 3rd ROK Marine Corps. He retired June 6, 2002, after 30 years of meritorious service. Subsequently, Steven served as a construction & facilities manager for building owners & public agencies for over 40 years. During his career, he worked on numerous commercial projects, including the Portland Public Schools, Beaverton School District, US Bank, the State of Oregon Department of Corrections, Intel’s D1X Project & the City of Coronado, California. Steve is a certified construction document technician (CDT) & Oregon Project Management Associate (OPMA) in the construction industry.
Steve’s volunteer service has centered on military issues with a focus on veterans in associations such as the Marine Corps Reserve Associations of Portland & San Diego, serving as president for two years in each chapter. He also served as president of the Oregon Chapter of 1st Marine Division Association from 2011 to 2012. In 2013, Steven volunteered for the work group to bring the United Service Organization (USO) PDX Center to Portland Airport after a 41-year absence. Steve was elected to the Board of Directors of USO Northwest in Seattle, WA, serving 2014 to the present. Currently, he is also the Columbia Pacific Area (Oregon) President of the Navy League of the United States.
