About the Event
The Cloud of Unknowing, a 14th-century work written by an anonymous monk, describes the practice of experiencing God in silent contemplation. Since being “discovered” by Father Thomas Keating in the 1960s, it has been used as a foundational text in the Christian practice of Centering Prayer.
The monk’s instructions to his student are sometimes cryptic, sometimes transcendent, often puzzling, always profound: “It is possible to know God by love, but by thought, never.” Come meditate with us, and see how this text can illuminate your contemplative practice.
Contemplative Mini-Retreats take place every 3rd Saturday, 9:00 am-noon. Join us for meditation, contemplative prayer as we sit together in community, with time for reflection, learning, and support, with guest teachers to help us explore the contemplative path. Mini-Retreats are free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
