About the Exhibit: Water is the universal element of humankind, central to our faith, and it is essential to the creation of these abstract paintings. Allan Oliver works with the physical and spiritual properties of liquid acrylic to express emotion, ideas, and discoveries.
About the Artist: An avid swimmer, Allan Oliver has found a source of health and happiness in the water over decades. After starting his art and design career in Latin America, he formed a graphic design and public relations agency in Portland, specializing in a wide range of cultural and social organizations. Discovering the artistic uses of computer imaging, he developed a business creating hand-printed fabrics. He marketed the designs at his gallery, Onda, on Alberta Street in Portland, which later came to exhibit primarily Latinx artists. His current artwork explores acrylic liquid art, and his paintings have been exhibited at the CAVE gallery, Hilton Convention Center, Society of Washington Artists, and Mosaic Arts Alliance shows in Vancouver, and at Trinity and the Oregon Society of Artists shows in Portland. Allan is the former chair of the Trinity Arts Commission.
