Blessing of the Animals Evensong

Bring your furry and feathered friends into the cathedral for a very special service of Choral Evensong for the Feast of St. Francis, sung by the Choir School & Schola—followed by the Blessing of the Animals! Animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome, and stuffed animals or photos of pets unable to attend will also be blessed.

Evensong, a gem of the Anglican musical tradition, is a service of sung Evening Prayer. Led mostly by the choir, it weaves psalms, canticles, anthems, readings, and prayers into a space of beauty and reflection at the close of the day. Through music and spoken word, sound and silence, we invite you to find a “thin space” in which to encounter the mystery and beauty of the spirit.
