(In person only; taught by Liz Harlan-Ferlo) Explore the ways in which writers across traditions have used language to describe God and their experiences of the divine. Using these models and writing exercises, we will generate our own poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Classes will include reading and discussion as well as time to write and share out. Open to writers of all levels.

About the instructor: Liz Harlan-Ferlo is a poet, educator, and author who serves as Trinity's Canon for Education & the Arts. As the daughter of a librarian and Episcopal priest, Liz has spent her life in proximity to religious and educational institutions. She combines her study of multiple faith narratives with talents for teaching and public speaking, bringing humility and humor to theology, and curiosity to exploring the presence of the sacred.

Liz’s writing, both poetry and prose, has been published in over thirty journals and magazines, both online and in print. Educated in public and religious institutions, she graduated from Oberlin College, and earned an MFA at the University of Oregon, during which time she was awarded both a Kidd Workshops Fellowship and a Humanities Center Residency. She was a resident at Vermont Studio Center in 2015 and received a grant from the Port Townsend Writing Conference in 2011.
