Centering Prayer (Weekly Sessions)

Join us for an intimate gathering focusing on the practice of centering prayer, led by Vicki Hess-Smith.

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer in which we experience God's presence within us. Developed by Fr. Thomas Keating and his Trappist brothers, Centering Prayer adapts the ancient contemplative practices of monastic Christianity to today’s sensibilities.  In person only.

This weekly practice is designed to build on the practice from the Centering Prayer mini-retreat. These optional gatherings will be offered Thursday mornings beginning Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Barclay Library upstairs, facilitated by Vicki Hess-Smith through Contemplative Outreach of Portland. Contemplative Outreach is an international, interdenominational spiritual network committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel. Our common desire for Divine transformation is primarily expressed through a commitment to a daily Centering Prayer practice.
