About the Event
The Cathedral Choir offers contemplative music for the Feast of Kassiani, a 9th-century Byzantine poet and hymnographer. The service is immediately preceded by a 30-minute organ recital by visiting organist James Mellichamp at 4:30 pm.
Evensong, a gem of the Anglican musical tradition, is a service of sung Evening Prayer. Led mostly by the choir, it weaves psalms, canticles, anthems, readings, and prayers into a space of beauty and reflection at the close of the day. Through music and spoken word, sound and silence, we invite you to find a “thin space” in which to encounter the mystery and beauty of the spirit.
