About the Event
Carl Yung and the Structure of Dreams
Hybrid; led by James O’Neil.
Human beings have been dreaming since we were, well, not yet human: EEG studies reveal that virtually every animal that closes its eyelids in sleep experiences REM cycles, the playground of dreams. Dreaming, then, predates our two most "human" expressions—language and art—and serves as their foundation.
In this course, we will approach writing and artistic creation as a response to the individual and collective dreams of humanity. Centered on the psychological theories of Carl Gustav Jung, we will explore methods of dream recall and strategies for transforming dreams into written and visual creations. This course aims to build a welcoming community to nurture our own dreaming and to experience the dreams of others.
