Poetics of Faith
(In person only; led by Tom Breidenthal. Limit 12 participants. No class 11/26.)
This four-week course will explore the world of religious poetry — how to read it, what to look for, what to bring to it.
We will take deep dives into poems ranging from the likes of John Donne and Gerard Manley Hopkins to living poets such as Mary Szybis and Robert Haas, with special emphasis on universal themes of expectation and longing.
Focusing on one or two poems a session, we will engage each one as it relates to our own journeys, with ample time given for general discussion and personal reflection.
