About the Event
The Rule of St. Benedict: Community and Belonging
(In-person only; led by Abbot Elaine Stewart Harris and Steve Isaacson, and members of Cornerstone Community)
At the heart of monasticism is the desire to step away from the dominance and corruption of the world – but as they withdrew from mainstream society, the early monks discovered that a sense of belonging is one of our most fundamental human desires.
For centuries, the Rule of St. Benedict has offered values and practices for forming communities distinct from the prevailing culture. This class will explore honoring the other, chanting the psalms, listening with “the ear of your heart,” and climbing the ladder of humility.
This course is an excellent introduction to Trinity’s Cornerstone Community for inquirers, but it is open to everyone.
