About the Event
Join us for a showcase of artworks created by artists from across the Diocese of Oregon, all inspired by the many changes and challenges of the last two years. Stop by, ponder a bit, and see how the pandemic has influenced these creators – and their creations. We are thrilled to welcome Prudence Roberts, former curator for the Portland Art Museum, as our guest curator.
The exhibit is open from November 20th - February 5th and can be viewed any time the front office is open: Monday-Thursday, 10:00 am-3:00 pm, and Sundays 8:30 am-12:00 pm
Prudence Roberts, Juror for this exhibit had this to say: Chrysalis is an apt title for an exhibition that marks the end of the darkest days of the pandemic: a chance to share new works of art, most seen here in public for the first time. The overarching theme that connects these paintings, photographs, textiles, and mixed media compositions is a sense of growth and an openness to experimentation. The artists in this show have reflected and learned over the past months. Sometimes their techniques have changed, sometimes they have embraced a new color palette or explored a different subject. Some bring years of experience to their work, while others are just spreading their wings and discovering their voices. It is a delight to see such diversity and thoughtfulness expressed in myriad ways.
