About the Event
We welcome Dr. Christena Cleveland, social psychologist, public theologian, activist, and author of God is a Black Woman: Why God's Social Location Makes All the Difference in the World. She is the founder and director of the Center for Justice + Renewal which supports a more equitable world by nurturing skillful justice advocacy and the depth to act on it. A weaver at heart, Dr. Cleveland integrates psychology, theology, storytelling, and art to help justice seekers sharpen their understanding of the social realities that maintain injustice while also stimulating the soul’s enormous capacity to resist and transform those realities. About the Michael B. Curry Distinguished Preacher Series: Trinity Cathedral's new preaching series featuring the leading prophets and preachers of our age. Named in honor of our Presiding Bishop, this series is made possible by a gift from the estate of Trinity’s longtime historian and faithful prophet, Professor Ann Weikel, the first woman to receive tenure in the History Department at Portland State University.
