(In person only) Nearly every spiritual tradition has a chanting practice used to help connect body, mind, and spirit. For the first Contemplative Mini-Retreat of the new year, we’ll learn and practice chants from the Sufi, Taize, Gregorian, and contemporary traditions and chant for group meditation.

This event is free; donations gratefully accepted. No prior meditation experience required.

About the presenters: Pat Zimmer sang with the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Choir for 30 years. She has led Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina and has taught and led contemplative chanting since 2020. Marta & Roger Scullion have a long history of singing Taize chants, and they currently lead a Centering Prayer group at Holy Trinity in Beaverton that incorporates Taize chanting. Benneth Husted has been doing Sufi practices since the 1970s and is a commissioned Centering Prayer teacher. She enjoys beginning her weekly Centering Prayer circle with chanting, which helps settle the mind and spirit.
