About the Event
With roots in the Vedic anukirtana tradition, kirtan is a practice of call-and-response sacred chanting, with Sanskrit mantras chanted first by the leader and repeated by the group. In this Mini-Retreat, we will chant the mantras, led by kirtan duo Shantala, interspersed with periods of silent reflection. No singing experience necessary.

About the Presenters:
With their unique blend of voices and the instruments of India and the West, Benjy and Heather Wertheimer have been leading kirtan (sacred chanting) worldwide since 2001 as the duo Shantala. Their work has been called "a radiant exploration of spirituality through music," and they have released nine albums of sacred chant music. They reside in Portland.
