About the Event

Join us at our November Mini-Retreat as we explore a template from St. Francis that can help us learn to open ourselves to and work with grief. By approaching our grief with compassion, beauty, and strength, we can learn to temper and stabilize ourselves so that we each might hold our particular post in faithful service.

Mini-Retreats take place every 3rd Saturday from 9:00 am-noon. Join us for meditation, contemplative prayer, and spiritual practice in community, with guest teachers who help us explore the contemplative path. Mini-Retreats are free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

About the presenter:  Therese DesCamp is a writer, an ordained minister, and spiritual companion. She was recently long listed for the CBC Non-fiction Award sponsored by Canadian public broadcasting for her essay “Singing the Red Dress Song.” Her Portland-based claim to fame is having once written a humor column for Willamette Week.

Therese holds a Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion and a PhD from The Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, and is currently Chair of The Contemplative Society, based in Victoria BC. She lives with her beloved husband and dog in the village of New Denver, British Columbia, where they share the land with multiple fruit trees, an enthusiastic—if weedy—garden, and the occasional bear. She has been sober for more than half her life; she’s been meditating for almost as long.
