Join us on the first Sunday of every month at 4:30 pm as organists from around the globe present pre-Evensong recitals on the beautiful Rosales Organ. This month, we welcome organist Dr. Patrick Pope, Organist and Director of Music at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, in Charlotte, North Carolina, who presents a recital featuring music by American composers Leo Sowerby, Gerald Near and Margaret Sandresky. About the organist:Â
Patrick Pope is the Organist and Director of Music at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Charlotte, NC, a post he has held since 2011. In 2015, he earned the Doctor of Music degree in Organ Performance and Literature at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, from which he also earned his Master’s degree. His teachers have included William Bates, Marilyn Keiser, Todd Wilson, and Christopher Young. As an Associate Instructor in the Jacobs School of Music, Dr. Pope taught applied piano and organ, and assisted in teaching courses in the church music curriculum. He has been fortunate to perform at esteemed venues throughout the eastern United States, including engagements in New York, Cambridge, Boston, Atlanta, Princeton, Washington, and two appearances at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC. In 2018, he performed a series of solo organ recitals in the U.K., including St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, London, and King’s College Chapel, Cambridge.
