About the Event

Pick a book and join us on Sunday mornings for a group discussion during the season of Lent. Our offerings this year are:

The Hopeful Family: Raising Resilient Children in Uncertain Times  (Hybrid; led by Charissa Simmons)

If you want to raise hopeful, action oriented kids in a time that feels full of uncertainty, this book is for you. Combining research on mental health, resilience, and spirituality with decades of experience as pastor, parent and child advocate, author Amelia Richardson Dress helps children and grown-ups live hopefully into the future.

Jane Eyre (Hybrid; led by Nathan LeRud)

A fresh look at a venerable classic. We’ll look at Charlotte Bronte’s beloved 1847 novel in its historical context, as a spiritual autobiography – and ask together if this is a book we want to pass down to future generations.

The Loneliest Americans (Hybrid*: led by Shana McCauley)

In his memoir The Loneliest Americans, Jay Caspian Kang weaves his story of immigration and becoming an Asian American with the history of Asians in the United States. He includes the stories of the Asian experience of class and social location, and the invisibility of Asian Americans in a conversation that is primarily the Black/white binary.

*Note that The Loneliest Americans is now hybrid.
