Join former literature teacher Liz Harlan-Ferlo for a deep dive into this year's Lent Reads book, The Living, Annie Dillard's 1992 novel about the arrival of settlers in the Pacific Northwest. How do we understand the characters' sense of place and of their place in the world? What rings true to us about how Dillard depicts the Northwest—and what doesn't? What can we learn from fiction about our own sacred nature, and that of others? (Hybrid)Â
The Living can be purchased at many bookstores or online, and a limited number of copies are available in the Welcome Center for $10.
