Barbara Bracken
Incoming Junior Warden
Having been an active volunteer at Trinity for many years with a wide range of groups, Barbara Bracken has gained a deep respect and understanding of the good news work and joy of this community. By meeting people from different backgrounds and faith journeys, her experiences have given her confidence to plan, collaborate, fully participate, and facilitate as a leader.
Barbara and her husband Rich joined Trinity in 2001, shortly thereafter enrolled in Catechesis, and soon became actively involved in community life. Rich gave renewed life to the Welcome Committee, and Barbara joined and soon chaired the Arts Commission for 7 years. She is proud to have expanded the breadth of Artists Among Us: adding monthly gallery showings, art classes, an annual Gala to raise funds for the Arts Commission, and instated and coordinated the fall Artisan Fair.
After serving as a Diocesan Delegate and while continuing to be a member of on-going special projects and events committees, Barbara served as a member of the Vestry as Vestry liaison to the Music Commission. When her term was completed, it was natural to join the Music Commission, chairing subcommittees and later serving as Commission Chair for four years – which was a challenge during the Covid years. Recently, she was honored to serve on the 2026 Profile Committee, and she currently continues to volunteer with the Trinity 175th Anniversary committee as we plan meaningful offerings to honor our rich history.
Only the second woman at Trinity to serve as Junior Warden, and the first woman in over 40 years, Barbara brings her collection of skills and knowledge learned over these and other experiences to oversee our beautiful buildings, campus and grounds. She is committed to listening, learning and communicating with our parishioners, clergy, staff, contractors and neighbors. Barbara thanks you for your encouragement, support and prayers. She looks forward to maintaining and expanding the care, operations and stewardship of our sacred buildings and grounds with our hard-working staff and volunteers.
Organizations outside of Trinity have and continue to call Barbara’s community volunteer spirit. In 2003, golf became her new hobby, and she quickly learned the necessity of volunteering to help make an organization successful. After initiating a morning league for 20 players, she agreed to oversee all the Portland Chapter’s 8 weekly leagues serving 260 members and continues today to serve on the Board of Directors.
In 2017 Barbara enrolled and became a certified volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT, aka NET) member in Tualatin. Within a year, she developed a city-wide program, Neighborhood Ready, developing a new training initiative focusing on individual Emergency Preparedness. By giving presentations to hundreds of residents and businesses, Barbara was able to help attendees understand the risks in our communities, the importance of and the ways to be prepared and become more resilient before, during and after a disaster.
