Bill and Nancy Bennetts formally joined Trinity in 1991 with their growing young family. They participated as teachers in our church’s school, as servers for our outreach at Bud Clark Commons and as members of Building and Grounds. Bill helped with Trinity’s last capital campaign and was a member of our diocese’s group that visited a sister diocese in Kerala, India in 2009 and 2011.
Bill grew up a Catholic in rural central California choosing to be an Episcopalian as an undergraduate student at Stanford where he obtained degrees in chemistry and medicine. After postgraduate training in Portland, London and Houston, Bill returned to Portland in 1980 and started and led Northwest Gastroenterology Clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital. He has been out of active clinical practice since mid-2020 and will fully retire in 2023 after fifty years of medicine. Bill has held office and participated in many community groups and is still active at William Temple House and Project Access NOW.
Nancy and Bill were married in 1985 by Rev. Tom Cummins as Nancy grew up at Christ Church in Lake Oswego. They have three grown children – one in Seattle and two here in Portland. Bill is newly a grandfather and for leisure he enjoys reading, cooking, tennis and hiking.
