Chris Maloney
Junior Warden
Chris comes from a large Irish Roman Catholic family and has roots in New England (born in Maine, lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and, appropriately, is an avid Red Sox fan). He grew up in the Beaverton area, left Oregon, and moved back to Portland 31 years ago. An invitation brought Chris to Trinity in 2008, and since that time he has found Trinity to be a place where spiritual growth, community service, and grace coalesce. The warm welcome Chris received has developed into meaningful friendships and belonging to a loving community.
Throughout the past 14 years at Trinity, he has been involved in multiple commissions and committees, including Outreach (Pantry, Thanksgiving Community Dinner Co-Chair), Youth Ministries (Sauce Off / Sauce On, Honduras Mission Trip 2010, Sunday School Middle School Teacher), Arts Commission, Usher / Host, and the Building & Grounds Committee.
A longtime passion for the visual arts turned into earning a BFA in Painting & Printmaking from Oregon State University. This blend of creativity and working with his hands is integral to his work in residential remodeling and home repair for the past 30 years. As Jr. Warden he is looking forward to being a part of a great team whose dedication and skills will continue to care for Trinity’s beautiful Cathedral, campus, and grounds.
Chris is the father of two adult daughters, who both were raised in and live in Portland. Parenting, as many might attest, has proven to be a fantastic challenge and an immense joy. He is further blessed to have met Susan Lindauer (Sauce Off committee 2009), and they were joyfully married by the Rev. Jim Bethell at Trinity in September 2019. In other moments in a day, Chris can also be found hiking, biking, making a meal (or a mess), playing cribbage, or easily sucked into the Sunday Times crossword puzzle.
